Ironic Wrongdoing and the Arc of the Universe

Using an analogical interpretation of Peirce's pragmatic maxim, I argue that there is a real sense to the idea that there is a moral arc of the universe itself, such as mentioned by Theodore Parker and famously employed by Martin Luther King, Jr. I then use Reinhold Niebuhr's account of irony in history to show the objective effects of wrong-doing. Without being either Kantian or utilitarian, a pragmatist can claim moral objectivity, I claim.
